Sour Sunday
Today’s beverage is the holiday appropriate Mikkeller’s Funky E★. It’s a Belgian wild ale aged in Sauternes wine barrels. It’s funky fresh and full of wine flavor. Only slightly sour, but still delicious. Happy Easter everybody!
A few pictures of yesterday’s brew session. We made a kiwi saison. Can’t wait to try the finished product.
Side note: peeling frozen kiwis is a serious mother fucker. I will not be making this beer ever again.

Would be an awesome Flanders Oud Bruin if it had better carbonation. I believe this is the first beer I’ve ever had from Norway. So there’s that.
I’m going to purée half and put them in during the last 10 minutes of the boil and the other half I’m going to purée, then boil (to kill any wild yeast/bugs)with some sugar and make a syrup with them to add to my secondary fermenter.
This is what 10 pounds of kiwis looks like. They will all be used in my next beer. A kiwi saison brewed with New Zealand hops.
